Dr. Sonam Thakchoe is a former Tibetan monk trained in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition for fifteen years. He obtained his PhD (2002) from the University of Tasmania, Shastri (BA, 1995) and Acharya (MA, 1997) with double majors on the history of Indo-Tibetan philosophy and religious studies from Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, India. He has taught Buddhist philosophy at the University of Tasmania for the past eight years and is now a full-time lecturer in Asian and comparative philosophy.

An intermediate-level course of study suitable for students familiar with the topics of interdependence and emptiness.

  • COMMENCING Tuesday APRIL 18 - 7 pm-8 pm AEST ONLINE ONLY 
Weekdays ~ Daily evening ONLINE sessions will be sharing  a combination of Lamrim Prayers and dedications, Guru Rinpoche Prayers, Tara Praises, Chenrezig Praises, King of Prayers, Calling The Guru From Afar, 108 Names of Manjushri, In Praise of Dependant Origination  sealed repeatedly with Prayers composed by HH Dalai Lama,  and Khensur Jhado Rinpoche & Khandro Tseringma for Rinpoches reincarnation to arise swiftly ( Practices alternating daily)
Every seventh day (of the 49 days since Rinpoches' passing) there will be Heruka Lama Chopa with Tsog at Kopan Monastery. Those dates are on Wednesday each week: 
April 26, May 3, 10, 17, and 24; and May 31.
Please note: Evening Prayer and Practice online sessions at CTCT will not be hosted on the above dates, instead, we encourage participation if you wish for the Heruka Lama Chopa Puja at Kopan Monastery at this special time ongoing

Importance of Studying and Applying Lamrim in Daily Life - Advice by Lama Zopa Rinpoche

2025 sessions will follow our monthly Refuge Practice sessions - which include Lamrim guided meditations each session - using the Lamrim Year Book - Current reading and contemplations 1st topic - Guru Devotion; August 3, August 24 & Sept 21 - Oct 19 - 2nd Topic - Precious Human Rebirth; November 16 onwards

2026 Group activities - ONGOING SESSIONS ONLINE - IN-PERSON will commence soon, March - April 2026, with a review of topics covered in 2025

Everyone is most welcome. We invite both existing participants of the 2024 Lamrim group and any newly interested participants.Discussions include the Lamrim as the foundation for engaging in the Preliminary / Ngöndro Practices,  specifically "Refuge Ngondro 2025-6 with Geshe Tenzin Zopa"
