Replete with rich poetic imagery and metaphor, Maitreya’s Sublime Continuum relates a profound and refined vision of the Mahayana. THE TATHAGATHA ESSENCE clarifies the meaning of our Buddha potential, particularly the emptiness of the mind that allows evolution to complete enlightenment.( A teaching To Be Continued ...)

THE RICE SEEDLING SUTRA - commentary also offered  during the Pilgrimage at Sanchi Stupa will be available on CTCT YouTube soon

LHA BAB DUCHEN with Geshe Tenzin Zopa ~ November 22

62881B55-0BD9-4F79-8C26-B084DD4615A8_4_5005_c.jpegLha Bab Düchen (Tib. ལྷ་བབས་དུས་ཆེན་, Wyl. lha babs dus chen), the 'Festival of the Descent from Heaven' — one of the four major Buddhist holidays. It occurs on the 22nd day of the ninth Tibetan month. Buddha’s mother Mayadevi was reborn in Indra’s heaven. To repay her kindness and to liberate her, and also to benefit the gods, Buddha spent three months teaching in the realm of the gods. When he was about to return to this world, Indra and Brahma manifested three stairs of 80,000 yojanas each reaching this world in Sankisa. As the Buddha walked down the central one, they accompanied him to his left and right carrying umbrellas to honor him. He descended to earth in Sankisa, which is located in modern Uttar Pradesh, and which is counted among the eight holy places.

2024 Chokhor Duchen July 10

“Turning the Wheel of Dharma,” CHOKHOR DUCHEN commemorates the anniversary of Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s first teaching. It is said that for seven0A6269AD 30EB 45E7 AA28 0778B80D2CCE 4 5005 c weeks after his enlightenment, the Buddha did not teach. Afterward, Indra and Brahma offered a Dharmachakra and a conch shell and requested Guru Shakyamuni Buddha to teach. Accepting, Guru Shakyamuni Buddha turned the wheel of Dharma for the first time at Sarnath by teaching the four noble truths.

Once again this year with deep appreciation we welcome Geshe Tenzin Zopa ONLINE for this very special time to lead prayers and practices - everyone is welcome to join us

[Text to be used: ]The Sūtra of the Wheel of Dharmacontains the Buddha’s teaching to his five former spiritual companions on the four truths that he had discovered as part of his awakening: (1) suffering, (2) the origin of suffering, (3) the cessation of suffering, and (4) the path leading to the cessation of suffering. According to all the Buddhist traditions, this is the first teaching the Buddha gave to explain his awakened insight to others.
